Top Tips for Applying Makeup

Whether your makeup style is full glam, 'barely there', or somewhere in-between, it's easy to fall back into your routine, and forget how to properly apply your foundation, ultimately doing more harm than good.

In this blog post, I am going to walk through 5 of my favorite tips on how to not only improve the quality of your skin, but inform you on how to get that dreamy makeup finish - and I'm not talking cakey, crumbly, or oily.

I think my favorite beauty tips, and life hacks in general, start with foundation.

After you apply the moisturizer that's right for you, (no idea what I'm talking about? No worries, click here to find out!) you can either apply a primer or jump straight into your foundation.

- To avoid creating shadows and a textured finish, always apply foundation using downward strokes.

- Depending on the coverage you want, application varies. If you want sheer coverage, use your fingers, but if you want more full coverage, use a foundation brush.

If you love to contour or have always wanted to try it out, this is for you! Select your contour shades best, by comparing them to your foundation color.

- Only go one shade darker

- Use two highlighter shades to add dimension to your face

- Blend your contour using a beauty sponge, by tapping it into the skin - this way you don't remove any foundation or concealer beneath

I'm convinced everyone has a favorite lip liner, luckily this tip doubles as a hack to extend the life of your fave pink lip liner.

- Apply a sheer or tinted gloss, NOT chapstick, before you apply any liner. Using a gloss before will help the liner go on much more smoothly, vs using a chapstick formula, which causes the liner to clump. This method will also prolong the life span of your lip liner - and who wouldn't want that?

Using a powder can keep your 'face in place' for longer, by setting the foundation, and absorbing excess oil, helping to prevent shine.

- Before going over your entire face with a powdered brush, take the end of a beauty blender, dipping it into the powder, and pressing it into your skin, on your oily prone areas - then go over with a powdered brush, dusting off excess product, and blending powder onto the rest of your face.

Does your eyeshadow crease or fade throughout the day? Concealer will be your new best friend! Concealer has many superpowers!

- Apply a dot of concealer on each eyelid, blending with a beauty blender, before applying eyeshadow. This will act as a sticky base, holding the pigments in place and making them more vibrant.

These basic tips can be included in anyones makeup routine, from full on glam, to quick and easy!

I hope these 5 tips provided you with a better idea on how to keep your makeup long-lasting, and improve the quality of your skin.
